ACM - Advanced Costing Modules

acmManaging costs is a must for any organization. There is no doubt about that. Most of the world already talks to investors and stakeholders about corporate financial performance in the language of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). QAD users too, have now the option to become IFRS compliant by using FIFO or Weighted Average (WA) method for material costing.

There are also countries or business practices which discourage or even forbid the use of Planned Costing Method (PCM). Organizations have to comply with the local Accounting Standards or IFRS – which means different costing methods than PCM: FIFO or Weighted Average Method.

To comply with these accounting standards some organizations are using additional products which are not tightly coupled with an ERP system – they export data in those products and consequently do not have proper costing in the core system – causing problems in reporting, GL posting, and making successful audits difficult to achieve.

Products, Semi-Products and Services Costing. Here we find some additional challenges. If we are using some other methods than PCM for material costing, than we have to include material costs in product costing properly. And again, if we do not solve this issue properly, we have problems similar to the ones mentioned previously with material costing: reporting, GL, audits.

Having the possibility to play with product costs numbers within an ERP system, without costly BI system, is also one great wish. Organizations wish to observe different cost sets of the products and services at the same time, and has to have the ability to easily assign costs (like cost of management and sales) to products or services.

In M2M we do business in an environment which demands other costing methods than PCM and we have been successfully supporting our customers with FIFO and Weighted Average. Having many years of experience, we decided to launch the costing modules to the global market as a set of QAD Applications (SE) add-on modules, designed to serve to all customers who need it.

Advanced Costing Modules are developed in a way which allows maximum tailoring of a program behavior by setting parameters in the decision tables and setting up new costing and reporting formulas without programming – if the pre-set behavior and formulas will not suffice.

We also developed training, self-training and support services to help you use these modules and make the most out of it.
